guaiol
Guaiol is an alcohol found in the oil of guaiacum and cypress pine, as well as in cannabis. Very little is known about this particular terpene, but it is believed that guaiol can be an effective natural insecticide and anti-microbial agent. Scientists in 2007 studied guaiol's antimicrobial effects against bacteria and fungi and found that it did indeed display activity against various bacterial strains. In order to learn more, scientists studied this terpene again in 2013 and discovered that it can also be used as a natural insecticide. These findings might not be particularly important for the needs of medical cannabis patients, but there is still more to be learned about this terpenoid.
